This is a documentary about capoeira: a brazilian martial art. It was made by talking to the teachers of capoeira in my life and filming capoeira events happening around the US northeast. This is the short form version and will be used to raise money to get down to Brazil to film the old guard of mestres and create a longer more comprehensive documentary. i heart the current installation at (or should i say on?) the hirshhorm museum and sculpture garden in DC. doug aitken’s “song 1” is a 35 minute video running on loop projected onto the museums 360 facade from eleven projectors. the audio blasts from all around the viewer; multiple back-to-back versions of the song “i only have eyes for you” (i think we all learned it driving in cars with dads).

legs didn’t know the word “busker”. or who kool & the gang is. busking is a dying art and one of my favorite random finds on any given day. you see a good busker, you give them a dollar. on my way back from the west end tonight, my man started playing “get down on it”. it took him three chords before i pulled my dollar out and started dancing and singing “what you gonna do if you really don’t wanna dance?”. legs said what. gotta correct this immediately cause if he don’t know, maybe you don’t know either? get down on it.
